Met een marifoon kan je zowel zenden als ontvangen via vaste scheepvaartkanalen. Zo onderhoud je contact met brugwachters, sluismeesters, verkeersposten en andere schepen. In noodsituaties is de marifoon onmisbaar: een oproep via kanaal 16 wordt direct opgepikt door de scheepvaart en de hulpdiensten. Er bestaan verschillende certificaten, afhankelijk van vaargebied en type apparatuur:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Basiscertificaat Marifonie:<\/strong> vereist voor gebruik op de binnenwateren.<\/li><li><strong>Marcom\u2011B:<\/strong> nodig bij DSC\u2011gebruik en op kustwateren.<\/li><li><strong>Marcom\u2011A:<\/strong> voor wereldwijde communicatie, inclusief MF\/HF\u2011apparatuur.<\/li><li><strong>SRC (Short Range Certificate):<\/strong> internationaal certificaat, vergelijkbaar met Marcom\u2011B.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-21102b7 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"21102b7\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7916b10 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"7916b10\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">ATIS &amp; MMSI uitgelegd<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-94618a2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"94618a2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Bij gebruik van een marifoon horen identificatiecodes. Twee begrippen spelen daarbij een rol:<br \/><br \/><strong>ATIS (Automatic Transmitter Identification System)<\/strong> is verplicht op de meeste Europese binnenwateren. Bij elke uitzending stuurt de marifoon automatisch een unieke code mee, zodat verkeersposten en brugwachters direct zien welk schip oproept.<br \/><br \/><strong>MMSI (Maritime Mobile Service Identity)<\/strong> is een internationale 9\u2011cijferige code, nodig bij marifoons met DSC\u2011functie en bij AIS\u2011apparatuur. Het zorgt voor eenduidige identificatie van schepen wereldwijd.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3044093 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3044093\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>DSC\u2011marifoons beschikken altijd over een ingebouwde of aangesloten GPS. Bij een DSC\u2011noodoproep worden automatisch de co\u00f6rdinaten van het schip meegestuurd.<\/p><p><strong>Met behulp van een <a href=\"https:\/\/smartmarine.nl\/wifi-multiplexer-informatie\/\">multiplexer<\/a> kan dit GPS\u2011signaal ook via WiFi gedeeld worden<\/strong> met bijvoorbeeld een iPad of ander mobiel apparaat zonder eigen GPS. Via VDES kunnen onder andere verkeersinformatie, veiligheidsmeldingen en weerberichten worden uitgewisseld. In Nederland geldt dat een marifoon verplicht is voor schepen langer dan 20 meter. Een oproep via de marifoon komt direct binnen, is herkenbaar en gestandaardiseerd, en maakt meteen duidelijk welk schip contact zoekt (dankzij ATIS of MMSI).
