ElectroMaax E Maax Pro X smart alternator regulator.
The ElectroMaax E Maax Pro X is a smart external alternator regulator for 12V and 24V onboard systems. The regulator controls the alternator's charging output based on voltage, current, engine speed, and the temperature of both the alternator and the battery. This optimises the use of available charging capacity and protects the alternator and battery bank from overloading and excessively high temperatures.
The Pro X comes with two shunts. One shunt measures the charging current supplied directly by the alternator. The second shunt measures the current actually flowing to and from the leisure battery. This allows the regulator to take into account active onboard consumers and control the alternator more accurately than a voltage-only regulator.
The Pro X can be set up and read out via Wi-Fi or a Windows computer. Charging profiles are available for, among others, lead-acid, AGM, Gel, Carbon Foam, and LiFePO4 batteries. Furthermore, the controller supports both positive and negative controlled alternators. Via NMEA 2000 data such as charging voltage, charging current, dynamo temperature and engine speed can be displayed on suitable equipment.
The charging yield can also be adjusted to the engine speed. This is particularly interesting for smaller engines, where at low speeds there is not always sufficient engine power available to fully load a heavy dynamo.
The E Maax Pro X is particularly suitable for straightforward installations with a single system voltage and a relatively simple charging setup. This controller is less suitable for complex installations with multiple battery banks, multiple voltages, different alternators, or extensive CAN bus integration.
