Introducing AIS functionality, Return Link Service (RLS) technology and Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities in a single 406 MHz Personal Locator Beacon (PLB), the rescueME PLB3 is a major step forward in the evolution of PLBs. By merging 406 MHz and AIS distress messages, both global and local rescue operations are effectively combined, maximising the chances of rescue. The addition of AIS distress messages means the PLB3 will alert vessels equipped with an AIS transponder within VHF range of your distress position. Also, the PLB3's NFC functionality provides users with the world's first smartphone-connected PLB. In addition, the all-new Return Link Service feature gives users peace of mind knowing that their distress message has been received and that their position has been located by global rescue services.
The PLB3 can be easily attached to a life jacket and activated in case of emergency. Using the supplied clip, the PLB3 is attached to the blowpipe and secured with a ribbon around the lung of your life jacket. If the PLB is properly installed, when the life jacket is inflated, the antenna will be deployed and the beacon will be activated.
It is also possible not to install the PLB3 in a life jacket. For users who do not wish to do so, there is also the possibility, thanks to the belt clip provided, of attaching the PLB to their belt or to the strap of their life jacket.
