ARCO Zeus Omega dynamo controller
The ARCO Zeus Omega is a completely new and modular control system for externally regulated alternators. The system has been developed for modern energy systems with large lithium battery banks and high charging capacities, focusing on ease of installation, reliability, and safety.
Instead of a traditional wiring harness with multiple long wires, the Zeus Omega consists of two compact modules. The Control Module is placed near the battery bank and the fully potted Alternator Drive Module is mounted directly on the alternator. Both modules are connected by only one pre-assembled cable. This significantly reduces the need for cables, connections, and potential points of failure.
The complete set is delivered pre-assembled and ready for use with a Control Module, Alternator Drive Module, five metres of connecting cable, power connection, two IP67 fuse holders with fuses, and a temperature sensor. The connecting cable uses standard M12 DeviceNet connectors and can be easily extended if necessary with a regular NMEA 2000 cable.
Thanks to its modular design, the Zeus Omega is particularly easy to install. The field current is regulated locally at the alternator and no longer needs to be routed through the boat via a long cable harness. This also makes the system very suitable for larger boats and installations where the alternator and battery bank are placed far apart.
Operation via the dedicated Zeus Omega app
The Control Module has Bluetooth and an integrated Wi-Fi module as standard. The Zeus Omega is fully set up and operated via its own ARCO Zeus Omega app for iOS and Android.
Via the app, you configure the complete charging system, select the alternator type, and set parameters such as charging voltage, field, and charging limits. The battery voltage, alternator data, temperatures, and current charging status are also visible in real-time.
The app guides you through the installation process and warns you when certain settings may not be safe or suitable for the connected alternator or battery bank. Additionally, the Zeus Omega stores the complete history of configuration changes. This makes it easy to check afterwards which settings have been adjusted, significantly simplifying support and fault diagnosis.
Thanks to the integrated Wi-Fi connection, the Zeus Omega is prepared for AZ Cloud. This will allow system data to be viewed and analysed remotely in the future.
Suitable for practically any externally controlled alternator
The Zeus Omega can be used with both positively and negatively regulated alternators. The desired type is simply selected in the app.
The system supports 12, 24, and 48-volt installations and can be combined with practically any externally regulated alternator. The maximum rotor voltage can be set, after which the Zeus Omega automatically calculates the permissible field and duty cycle. This prevents the alternator from being unnecessarily overloaded.
Expandable to six dynamos
One Zeus Omega Control Module can control a maximum of six individual Alternator Drive Modules. Each alternator can be individually set and monitored.
This makes the system ideal for boats with multiple engines, multiple alternators or alternators with different power outputs. Individual settings can be used per alternator.
Additionally, a maximum of two engine profiles can be created with speed-dependent charging limits. This allows the charging power to be limited at low engine speeds and automatically increased at higher engine speeds. This prevents the engine from being unnecessarily heavily loaded at idle speed.
Keep loading during a communication failure
The Zeus Omega has an Emergency Charge Mode. If communication between the Control Module and the Alternator Drive Module is lost, the module at the alternator can continue to function independently.
In that case, the alternator continues to charge in a controlled manner until the set float voltage is reached. This prevents the charging system from cutting out completely in the event of a communication fault.
Designed for the engine compartment
The Alternator Drive Module is fully encapsulated, has an IP68 protection rating, and can withstand temperatures of up to 100 degrees Celsius. The module is therefore specially designed for installation in the hot, humid, and demanding environment of an engine compartment.
The individual Control Module is mounted close to the battery bank and provides central control, communication and configuration of the system.
Integration with modern energy systems
The ARCO Zeus Omega supports integration with Victron DVCC, NMEA 2000, RV C, CZone and compatible Smart BMS systems, allowing the charging process to be automatically adjusted to the battery bank's current charging limits and safety information.
Optionally, contactless Hall effect sensors can be added for precise measurement of dynamo or battery current. These sensors are placed around the cable, meaning the full charging current doesn't have to pass through a traditional shunt.
Zeus of Zeus Omega
The Zeus Omega will be available alongside the existing ARCO Zeus alternator regulator and is not a direct replacement. The standard Zeus remains an excellent choice for single alternator installations, offering comprehensive configuration, monitoring, and integration capabilities.
The Zeus Omega is primarily developed for installations where simple wiring, ease of installation, multiple alternators, modular expansion, or local control at the alternator is desired.
Key features: very simple installation without a traditional wiring harness, complete pre-assembled set, only one connection cable per alternator, integrated WiFi and Bluetooth, control via the proprietary ARCO Zeus Omega app, real-time monitoring and configuration, support for up to six alternators, suitable for 12, 24, 36 and 48 volt systems, support for positive and negatively regulated alternators, Emergency Charge Mode, IP68 Alternator Drive Module, two configurable engine profiles and integration with Victron DVCC and NMEA 2000.
